Electronics Recycling & Take It Apart Day!
Join us for a special day of free electronics recycling and hands-on exploration! Bring in your old electronics and give them a new life—or take them apart and see what’s inside.
What to Expect:
Free Electronics Recycling: We’re offering free recycling for most electronics during this event (note that we offer recycling year-round but on August 9 it's free!). Recycle during store hours, 11am-7pm.
Take-It-Apart Station: Curious how electronics work? Stick around and safely take apart items you bring or explore provided materials. Offered from 12-5pm.
Electronics Recycling Donation Ticket: It's never actually free to offer recycling and hands-on activities. If you wish to support what we're doing, consider purchasing a $10 donation ticket to offset the cost of everything we do at Because Science. Thank you for supporting STEM in Adams Morgan!

Who Can Join: Open to all ages
Cost: Free (TVs eligible with purchase offset, regular rate is $1/diagonal inch)
Time: Recycling occurs during store hours (11am-7pm) and take-it-apart activities occur from 12–5pm.
Registration: Not required—just stop by!
What's accepted for recycling: Please check this guide. If you're not sure if we'll accept it, the fastest way to find out is texting (don't call that number) your question to 571-549-8028 but you're also welcome to call us at 202-248-1366 during business hours.
NOTE: We're accepting personal household electronic waste. If you're looking to recycle more than 50 lbs, please email info@circuitbreakerlabs.com with an inquiry to recycle more than that or if you're recycling for a business. This is not a commercial operation, just our gift to our neighbors in Adams Morgan to help them recycle responsibly and we just may not have the capacity/space to accept high volumes of waste.
