WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 2, 2025) — Adams Morgan is bringing the party and the pride to the streets this June in celebration of World Pride in D.C. This Friday, June 6, the Adams Morgan BID will unveil a one-of-a-kind “Rainbow Road” mural amid the neighborhood’s second annual Pride Storefront Decorating Contest. The vibrant new Pride mural in partnership with Capital Pride Alliance is installed along the jersey barriers adjoining the outdoor streateries in the 2400-2300 blocks of 18th Street (between Columbia Road and Kalorama Road, NW).

The press is invited to join judges and community leaders for a lively guided tour of participating businesses, mural unveiling and short program outside Roofers Union (2446 18th St NW, Washington, DC 20009) at 1:30 PM.

This year’s mural was created by muralists Jessie and Katey, a nationally renowned mural team based in Baltimore who are known for their use of color and pattern. The mural design and installation was curated and managed by Pipkin Creative and reinforces Adams Morgan’s legacy as one of D.C.’s most inclusive and welcoming neighborhoods—and one that definitely knows how to throw a celebration. “Adams Morgan has always been a space where everyone is welcome—and where joy and creativity take center stage,” said Kristen Barden, Executive Director of the Adams Morgan Partnership BID. “With World Pride in D.C. this year, we’re proud to bring our community together to show off our colors—literally.”

The Storefront Decorating Contest features about two dozen neighborhood businesses judged by a fabulous crew of local leaders including Japer Bowles of the Mayor’s Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning Affairs, Brandon Bayton of Capital Pride Alliance, ANC1C Commissioner David Fucillo, Chellee Walker of the DC Department of Small & Local Business Development, and Anthony Salinas of TTR Sotheby’s International Real Estate. Businesses are pulling out all the stops to bring Pride to their storefronts—making for strong visual content for broadcast. Online public voting for the best display will last through Sunday, June 8th with the winners announced Monday, June 9th.
